Once upon a time, India had a number of princely states which were ruled by royal families living in the respective states.And these princely states lost their existence after India’s independence as they had to merge together to form the largest democracy of the world. Although princely states became states and many new developments took place, the royal palaces were preserved and maintained as a heritage. Many of such palaces were also converted into heritage hotels for tourists. These royal palaces in India are so beautiful that they attract visitors not just from nearby places but also foreign countries.   • Mysore Royal Palace, also called the Amba Vilas Palace happens to be one of the most spectacular Indian palaces, situated in Karnataka’s Mysore. It is considered to be the residence of the Wodeyars dynasty, which is the royal family of Mysore. And it’s not this palace alone; Mysore is dotted with many other palaces of great splendour. And that is the reason why it is also known as the City of Palaces.The construction of this palace started in 1897 and by 1912, it got completed. Later,British architect Henry Irwin was hired by the royal family to extend the palace.
